  1. Portland Village School 09/10 enrollment application

Hard copies of these documents are also available by visiting our school. Once you have completed and mailed the application form and read the Statenment of Understanding, you will have applied to enroll your child(ren) at the Portland Village School.

Lottery

Priority enrollment is given only to siblings of currently enrolled students. If we receive more applications during our first phase of enrollment than we have spaces available, in any given grade, state law requires us to conduct a lottery to determine admission.

2009-10: Applications were collected from January 24 to March 20, 2009; this group of applicants comprised the lottery pool. The random lottery process ensures fairness without regard to ethnicity, national origin, disability, gender, income level, English proficiency, location, athletic ability or past academic performance. The lottery was held during the first week of April. Applicants were notified of their status during the month of April.

Students who reside out of the PPS school district will be placed on the waiting list after all in-district applicants have been placed in the lottery.

Kindergarten applicants must be five years old by September 1 of the year they are applying for admission. We do not make any acceptions to this cut-off date. This is true for all following grades:six years old by September 1 for 1st grade, seven for 2nd grade, eight for 3rd grade, etc.

Waiting List

The lottery process determines the initial order of placement of the waiting list. Students applying after March 19, 2010 will be added to the waiting list in the order that applicaitons are received. We will maintain our waiting list throughout the school year, offering enrollment if a space becomes available. The waiting list does not carry over to the next school year.
