Portland Village School Families,
We are buzzing with excitement surrounding our upcoming Craft Fair! This cherished tradition brings alive the natural Waldorf whimsy into an experience bursting with creativity and fun!
In addition to welcoming in the holiday season with our school community, the Craft Fair serves the special purpose of gifting holiday bonuses to our PVS staff. As you might already know, charter schools are only granted a fraction of what other publicly funded schools are given. This means our teachers pass up salaries available at other schools for the ability to nurture children in Waldorf methodologies. 100% of the money earned at our Craft Fair is gifted to PVS staff as our way of saying “thank you” for their dedication!
The Craft Fair is a lively and joyful event with:
- Professional Vendors selling handcrafted goods, including artisan jewelry, beeswax candles, woolen clothing, wooden toys, bath and beauty care, houseplants, holiday decor, and more! You can truly get your holiday shopping done at the fair!
- Student Vendors with wonderful homemade creations, including putty, birdhouses, perennial seeds, games, keychains, artwork, crochet accessories, and toys. Each year, the children exceed our expectations with how impressive their booths are!
- Delicious soups and baked goods donated by PVS families.
- Cake Bingo - a fun annual tradition enjoyed by all ages!
- A joyful pocket fairy with handmade goodies for the kiddos to purchase for only 1 ticket!
- Bake Sale items and more!
The Craft Fair is designed to be a one-stop shop for all of your holiday Waldorf-inspired/handmade gifting needs. If you or someone you know would like to have a booth at this year’s event, please sign up before November 11th. All vendors are asked to pay a $80 participation fee (which is donated directly to our staff) but keep all proceeds.
Your student can sign up to be a vendor independently or share a booth with their friend. Student booths encourage entrepreneurial interest as much as they allow students to celebrate our staff. All student vendors donate 20% of their earnings to our staff.
This event is substantial and requires all PVS families to participate in order to pull off such an ambitious endeavor. Volunteering could look like so many different things, including baking loaves of bread, helping to set up, or crafting items to include for our pocket fairies. Please make sure each household reviews our volunteer sign-up sheet and commits to it as much as possible!
You can also spread the word at your preschool, favorite cafe, local community space, playgroup, or with neighbors and family members!
