Bio
I was born and grew up in Brazil with a large family of 7 siblings. We loved to camp together, hike and explore Nature, climbing canyons, swimming in rivers and on the Atlantic Ocean. I spent a lot of time with my large extended family of uncles, aunts and cousins. I love to teach and trained as a Waldorf teacher in São Paulo. I moved to the US with my husband to study more and to start a family. Early in my career, when I was not teaching at the Rudolf Steiner School in NYC or pursuing my masters in special education, my husband and I explored the east coast by traveling by bicycle, hiking, camping and bird watching. Now living in Portland, these things continue to be very much part of the Mello family. Portland Village School has been my home for 11 years. Some of my favorite aspects of teaching the kindergarten curriculum here are puppetry, Obstacle Course and Bike week.
